Store Associate, Casual Part-Time (1-2 shifts per week, 20-25 hours per month)
Full Circle is downtown Kitchener’s local and zero-waste grocery store. Since 1981, we have championed local products, zero-waste shopping options, and plant-based foods long before it was cool. Every team member is trained in a wide variety of tasks. From customer service to receiving deliveries, food preparation to stocking shelves and cleaning, every team member does a mix of front-of-house and back-of-house tasks. Everyone including the boss mops the floor. We’re a small and versatile team of people who support one another.
As a casual, part-time store associate, your responsibilities would include:
● Ensuring customers have a great experience in store and online
● Packing online orders
● Receiving deliveries, stocking shelves and lots and lots of bulk stocking
● Providing product advice to customers
● Handling cash and processing transactions in the point-of-sale system
● Preparing fresh produce for optimal freshness
● Simple food preparation (no cooking)
● Cooperating with teammates to accomplish all daily tasks and occasional projects
● Communicating with vendors to ensure smooth deliveries and product quality
● Working independently in the store with no supervision
● Lifting heavy boxes and bags up to 50lb / 25kg
Job details:
● $20.90/hour as of May 1st
● Weekend availability is a must. You will be required to cover two 5-7h weekend shifts a month, on Saturday or Sunday. This role is primarily to help cover for vacations and days off - it helps the team tremendously!
● On average, we would we looking to schedule 20-25 hours per month.
● On a particularly vacation-filled month we will ask for more coverage during the weekend or weekday evening. However, if you are only available for the two weekend shifts a month we still encourage you to apply!
● If the candidate is interested, we also need a bit more regular help during the week. This may look like a 3h shift on Wednesdays, though this is flexible.
● Shifts are scheduled well in advance, one month at a time
● 6-month contract starting May 2023 with possibility of extension
● 1 week paid sick leave per year + other job-protected leave policies
● 3 weeks paid vacation per year
● 15% reimbursement for GRT transit pass
● COVID-19 measures:
o Masks provided
o HEPA+UV filter at cash register
o MERV-13 filters in HVAC system
o Regular sanitation of high-touch surfaces
o Online ordering
